Calling all brilliant minds and enthusiastic volunteers!
We are excited to announce that our Great Engineers Schools Challenge is hosting a STEM-based event on the 21st of October 2026. We are reaching out to the community in search of passionate individuals, companies or groups who would like to contribute their expertise and offer exciting activities for our young minds. At the heart of this event is the belief in fostering a love for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics among our students. We firmly believe that hands-on experiences and real-world applications are pivotal in shaping their future. If you or your group specialize in STEM-related activities and are willing to share your knowledge, then we would love to have you join us! Whether it's robotic challenges, coding workshops, experiments, or any other inspiring initiatives, we're eager to offer our students a diverse range of experiences. To express your interest or learn more about this wonderful opportunity, please contact us via the email address below. Feel free to share your talents, and together, let's ignite the sparks of curiosity and wonder in these young minds!
We are currently seeking volunteers to support the event in September and October. There are two main roles available for volunteers:
1. Mentor: As a mentor, you will work with the children to help them build Meccano models as part of a school session. This role involves guiding and assisting students in their engineering projects, fostering their creativity and problem-solving skills.
2. Activity Volunteer: On the challenge day, activity volunteers will help ensure that all schools attending are entertained and that the event runs smoothly. This role may involve assisting with logistics, coordinating activities, and providing support to both students and teachers.
All volunteers must be known to us in some way already and must either have a DBS check or be willing to have one completed prior to starting (we can assist with this process). If you are interested in volunteering or know someone who might be, please get in touch with us to discuss further. If you are unsure about what role you can play or how you can contribute, we are more than happy to provide guidance and support. Additionally, if you work for an engineering company that may be interested in sharing their experiences with the children, we would love to hear from you. Your expertise and insights could greatly benefit the students participating in the challenge.
Thank you in advance for considering this volunteer opportunity. Your support and dedication will make a significant impact on the success of the Great Engineers Schools Challenge. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
